The BCS has been directly involved in initiating academic activity at the undergraduate and post-graduate level. This includes helping undergraduate medical students in the UK further their interest in cupping therapy by undertaking Special Study Modules as art of their compulsory medical studies.
In addition in 2003 BCS facilitated the first Masters level research in Cupping Therapy in the UK. This work has led to the first doctorate studies in the UK in Cupping Therapy. Following this other students have taken the opportunity to study cupping therapy. An international collaboration group into the study of the relationship between migraines and cupping therapy is currently underway.
