[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Cupping Therapy (CT) of all types is not subject to statutory law in the UK and therefore comes under the remit of voluntary complementary medicine regulatory bodies. The BCS is a recognised regulatory body of CT in the UK and internationally. This means that the BCS has its own register of approved practitioners. We are the only cupping society worldwide led solely by medical doctors and health professionals.
In addition, the General Regulatory Council for Complementary Therapies (GRCCT) is an umbrella body for complementary medicine regulation in the UK. We are pleased to be a member of GRCCT.
In the UK, a number of individuals and organisations claim to be cupping practitioners and regulatory bodies, regardless of their professional training and background. Inevitably this leads to different standards of care and can leave the general public in danger of being exposed to incompetent practitioner and inadequate care. Examples of these include but are not limited to unhygienic practices, transmission of blood borne diseases, infection, scarring, mismanagement of existing medical problems and lack of professional accountability.
As the British Cupping Society, we are committed to training health professionals only. - Demonstrate that they are a health professional.
- Complete the BCS training programme for CT.
- Evidence of health clearance
- DBS certificate – police clearance
- Insurance to practice
- Up to date with current standards
- Adhere to our Code of Conduct
