Dr Sirfraz Nazir

Dr Sirfraz Nazir MBBS, MRCGP, MSc, PhD, DIC, PGCE is a General Practitioner, clinical educator, researcher and experienced cupping practitioner, and serves as a Director of the British Cupping Society (BCS).

Alongside his clinical career in general practice, urgent and community-based care, Dr Nazir has a longstanding interest in the development of cupping therapy as a safe, professional and evidence-informed therapeutic practice. Within the British Cupping Society, he is actively involved in research, education, practitioner development and the advancement of professional standards.

His work with BCS focuses on strengthening the clinical and academic foundations of cupping therapy, promoting high standards of practitioner training, governance, patient safety and ethical practice, and encouraging continued evaluation of both the traditional principles and emerging scientific evidence surrounding cupping.

As an experienced GP trainer and educator, Dr Nazir brings a strong background in clinical teaching, critical appraisal and evidence-based medicine to his work with the Society. He has a particular interest in developing clearer professional standards and helping practitioners understand how traditional cupping practice can operate responsibly alongside modern healthcare.

Through his work with the British Cupping Society, Dr Nazir is committed to supporting research, education, professionalism and greater recognition of high-quality cupping practice, while ensuring that patient safety and clinical integrity remain central to the profession.
